New for the 21/22 season, the K2 Special Effects is a soft snow specialist that can hold its own on groomers, hard pack, and long traverses out to the soft stuff. We're unleashing an exciting new design in the shape of the Special Effects. The nose of the board features 8mm of contour from heel to toe, making it easier than ever before to plane out in deep snow while providing predictable turn initiation regardless of snow or terrain type. This contour helps to deflect snow and slush, eliminating drag and acting like a plow at the tip of your snowboard. We harness the strength of our tri-wood blend Bambooyah Core and wrap it with our ICG 10 Carbon Fiberglass: featuring ten tip-to-tail carbon stringers for an extremely strong, damp, and stable feel. Our Volume Shift design philosophy means you can downsize the board 4-10cm from your usual board length without sacrificing float while increasing maneuverability. Underfoot, the tough-as-nails Sintered 4000 base is fast, durable, and holds wax much better than extruded base materials. Lastly, our Hybritech Sidewalls are the most durable sidewall construction on the market, meaning this pow hunter will remain in your quiver for years to come. - Bambooyah Core: Sustainably harvested bamboo, aspen, and paulownia combine to deliver a damp and responsive feel. Our Bambooyah cores are backed by a 5-year warranty against breakage. - ICG 10 Biax Carbon Glass: Integrating Carbon Fiber stringers that run the length of the board into our fiberglass increases the snap of the snowboard without adding unnecessary rigidity. - 3D Contour Nose: 8mm of convex 3D contour (spoon), gradually blended from the running surface into the nose of the board to float like hell and maintain a predictable feel on hardpack. - Hybritech Sidewall Construction: A K2 exclusive. By transitioning from a P-Tex sidewall into a capped construction in the tip and tail of our snowboards, we are able to reduce waste while giving our snowboards better energy transfer and making them more durable than our competitors. - Sintered 4000 Base: Hard, fast, and durable, our Sintered Base material holds wax better than extruded materials, increasing speed and glide. - Volume Shift: We reduce swing weight and toe/heel drag by shifting surface area from the tip and tail to the waist of the snowboard. For 2022, this powder annihilating series has been upgraded with a lightweight and versatile P2 Superlight CoreTM, a new Powder DriveTM base, and is now offered in two new sizes—143 and 167. The Navigator returns with its proven inlaid cork damp- eners die-cut into custom-modified forward sections to dampen vibrations common with oversized powder shapes. Retaining a Parabolic sidecut and sinking tapered tail to swim through the soft stuff, the wide-frame rockered nose naturally floats above deep snow. For 2022, the Powder Racers have been reconfig- ured with a new Surf Camber profile combining the carving benefits of camber underfoot with Spring Break’s iconic Surf Rocker on the nose and tail. This season, we stepped back from much of the thinking on powder board designs, to re-envision how to provide more of the versatility we need when we head out to ride deep snow. Knowing how similar water and powder dynamic are, we turned back to surf to create a shape that provides tremendous float, all condition turning performance, and the edge control we need on the hardback or mixed conditions we often encounter to-and-from a session. The new single features a highly tapered, pintail design, which provides the tracking and stability of a single fin surfboard. The tail creates the perfect angle of approach for the deepest days, and added stability when pushing through the biggest pow turns. We used our Thunderhead Tip design to add surface area for buoyancy, with notches that channel snow around this wider shape. Our Pow Fenders make turning in deep snow easier, while Grip Tech makes the Single hold an amazing edge, when reality kicks back in.
